Sadaqah Jariyah (Ongoing Charity)

Only those who believe in Allah (swt) and the Last Day, establish regular prayer, give Zakat, and fear none but Allah (swt) and will maintain the masjids (places of worship). It is these who may hope to be among the rightly guided. (Surah At-Tawbah, 18)

Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says:

When a person dies, their Book of Deeds is closed, except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity), beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for them. (Sahih-i Müslim)

Whoever builds a masjid (mosque/place of worship) for the sake of Allah (swt), Allah (swt) will build for him a house like it in Paradise. (Sahih-i Buhari / Sahih-i Muslim)

This project is a wonderful opportunity for your Book of Deeds to continue being filled with virtuous actions, never closing. You can even make a contribution on behalf of a loved one, such as your late mother or father. Your contribution will continue to add to their Bookof Deedsas an ongoing source of blessings.

Leave a good deed in the name of a loved one.
May your Book of Deeds never close.

🕌 Project Overview

Ground Floor - 1st Floor - 2nd floor sisters prayer hall

The Sisters’ Accessibility Lift Renewal Project at Suleymaniye Mosque London aims to repair and replace critical faulty components of the sisters’ entrance lift and bring it fully back into service.

This lift is not a luxury — it is a necessity. It enables safe, dignified, and independent access to the mosque for some of our most vulnerable members.

Due to long-term mechanical faults and worn components, the lift is currently out of service, placing an unfair physical burden on those who rely on it most.

Our goal is to restore the lift to full working order, ensuring compliance with safety standards and allowing uninterrupted access for years to come.

👥 Who Uses This Lift?

This project directly supports all sisters visiting the mosque including:

Disabled Sisters
    •    Wheelchair users
    •    Sisters with limited mobility
    •    Individuals with chronic illness or injury

👵 Elderly Worshippers
    •    Those unable to climb stairs safely
    •    Seniors who attend prayers, talks, and community events

👩‍🍼 Mothers with Babies
    •    Mothers with prams and young children
    •    Sisters attending classes or prayer with infants

👧 Children
    •    Young children accompanying parents
    •    Safer access without physical strain or risk

Without the lift, many sisters are effectively excluded from attending the mosque — something Islam strongly warns against.

⚙️ Scope of Work

The project involves the complete renewal of the sisters’ entrance lift at Suleymaniye Mosque London to ensure safe, reliable, and accessible use for disabled worshippers, elderly visitors, mothers with prams, and children.

The works will include:
    •    Removal and safe disposal of the existing lift system
    •    Supply of a brand new lift and essential components
    •    Professional installation and engineering labour
    •    Transport and delivery of equipment
    •    Testing, safety checks, and commissioning

Once completed, the new lift will provide long-term reliability, improved safety, and dignified access to the sisters’ prayer facilities.

🎯 Project Cost & Fundraising Target

The total cost of the lift renewal project is estimated at £41,500, covering equipment, removal of the old lift, installation, and transport.

Estimated Cost Breakdown
    •    New Lift Equipment & Materials: £20,500
    •    Transport & Delivery: £2,000
    •    Installation Labour: £12,000
    •    Removal of Existing Lift: £7,000

Total Project Cost: £41,500

Our initial fundraising target is £41,500, which will help us begin the project and secure the essential lift equipment needed to restore access as soon as possible.

We invite the community to support this important project through £100 donation shares, helping ensure that everyone — especially the elderly, disabled, and mothers with children — can access the mosque with ease and dignity.

☪️ Islamic Importance of This Project

Accessibility in Islam is not optional — it is a duty.

“Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear.”
(Qur’an 2:286)

Preventing hardship and removing barriers is a core Islamic principle.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Whoever relieves a believer’s distress, Allah will relieve his distress on the Day of Resurrection.”
(Muslim)

By supporting this project, you are:
    •    Enabling sisters to attend salah and gatherings
    •    Supporting mothers raising the next generation
    •    Honouring the elderly
    •    Including the disabled in communal worship

This is Sadaqah Jariyah — ongoing charity — every prayer, every step, every visit facilitated by this lift continues to reward you.

🤲 Why Your Support Matters

A mosque should never be a place of barriers.

By restoring this lift, we ensure:

    •    Equal access to worship

    •    Safety and dignity
